Governance

James Woolwine has worked with San Francisco Bay Area companies for 25 years developing Governance models for commercial software development and IT departments at numerous businesses in multiple industries.

Governance processes are established to provide management oversight and transparency to
any project-oriented development process. James Woolwine will provide individually structured governance models to address the needs of a particular business. This model provides a consistent process that will identify and qualify projects that require investment in the form of development resources, and monitor the status and success of on-going projects. Emphasis is on consistent, tight management by a small senior leadership team (usually a Steering Committee) given the responsibility and authority to drive success of the project(s).

In a commercial software business, governance is the effective management of the Product Development Process as a whole in support of the defined business strategy.  The goal is to drive the software portfolio to meet the needs of the customer.

IT Governance manages the alignment of the Business and IT with the strategic vision and goals of the company.  The aim is meeting business needs and expectations with appropriate technology, linking IT to the enterprise strategies and objectives.
